1) Be consistent

Be consistent with rules and expectations. Consistency is the key to successful parenting. When you have consistent consequences, your children will know what to expect in any situation. This will also make it easier for them to adjust to change because they know what the outcome should be. If they have trouble adjusting, then talk with them about their feelings and see if there's something else that might make the transition easier for them. Sometimes this can be a fun activity or taking a break from whatever the difficult thing was to do before hand. It is important to take time out of every day as a family so that parents don't become too tired and stressed out. 2) Teach through positive reinforcement

Positive reinforcement is essential to successful parenting. When a parent reinforces the positive things their child does, they are motivating them to keep doing that behaviour. This helps build their self-esteem and make them feel good about themselves. It also encourages them to want to do more things that please their parents and make them happy. The parent should always say thank you when their child displays appropriate behaviours and not just when they do something wrong. Always praise children for what they have done, even if it was just being respectful of others or being polite by saying please or thank you. 3) Don’t fight battles you can’t win

Don't fight battles you can't win. I don't mean don't fight battles at all. I mean, that if you know they are loosing battles, then don't waste your time and energy on them. Instead, redirect your energy on the positive things in life that matter most to you. The best way to help a child is by modelling the behaviour you want them to have. A lot of parents think they need to be perfect, but that's not true. Just try your hardest and show empathy for their feelings. It's also important to remember what it was like when we were children so we can better understand our kids' feelings as well. 4) Remember what being a kid was like

As a parent, one of the most important lessons you can learn is to remember what it was like to be a kid. Kids have a lot going on so it's important that they understand that you get it and will do what you can to help them out. Make sure that your kids know how much they are appreciated and loved for who they are in order for them to grow up feeling confident and secure about themselves. Finally, give yourself a break! It’s tough work being a parent but all parents need time for themselves from time to time. Being a parent doesn't mean that you're not allowed to enjoy life as well. Make sure you don't forget to take care of yourself too! 5) Spend quality time together

The time you spend with your child can have a profound impact on their life. Whether it is reading a book together, going to the park, or just playing games together, quality time together is an important part of parenting. Spending quality time with your children not only builds that special bond between parent and child, but it also helps them develop skills like empathy and problem-solving. Quality time spent together should be a priority in order for any relationship to flourish. In conclusion

Parenting is a challenging, rewarding, and exhausting undertaking. The most important thing is to remember to spend quality time together, remember what it's like being a kid yourself, be consistent in your discipline and expectations for your children and lastly, be patient. The best way to learn how to parent effectively is by learning from other parents that have succeeded with their kids.

Luckily there are plenty of forums online where you can go ask questions and get advice. You can also find parenting books at your local library or bookstores that will offer even more help than just the internet.
